Credit for all ACIA-level requirements or equivalent, except for professionalism.
Demonstrated Canadian experience** relevant to the chosen PEC track in a specialty or sub-specialty where the candidate has spent at least 36 months*** within the last four years of their time working on a full-time basis.
In lieu of the above-mentioned experience route, a candidate can opt to successfully complete the associated examinations outlined in Table 1 of the exam route for the chosen PEC track, in addition to demonstrating at least two years of experience.* The experience may be gained in Canada or elsewhere.
* The experience must be detailed using the relevant CIA form and include a detailed description of the work performed. The minimum work experience requirement must be met at the time of application for the PEC. If you are applying for the PEC using the exam route, the certifying Fellow form must be completed with a detailed description, but it does not need to be signed by a Fellow. ** The experience must be relevant to the chosen PEC track and must be detailed using the relevant CIA form, which must be certified by an FCIA. The certifying Fellow must have had their designation for the entire work experience period. The minimum work experience requirement must be met at the time of application for the PEC. *** If the 36-month experience requirement would be met by August 1, 2024, candidates currently holding a Fellow level designation and needing to attend the PEC for the purposes of pathway 3A can still apply for the December 2023 PEC.
